We are a voluntary sector group in Salisbury who aim to support and encourage social inclusion through the arts

Thank you from all at Circular Arts

Although the predicted winds didn't materialise on the night Circular Arts would like to say a big thank you to everyone who understood and were very sympathetic of our decision to cancel Thursday's parade.

Returning lanterns to the workshop groups was heart-breaking but it is good to remember that the workshops themselves - the making, the sticking, the messy-making decorating - are the major part of what it is all about, bringing communities together - young, old, able and disabled - with the parade the icing on the cake.

So here's to next year when we hope the lanterns will once again light up the streets of Salisbury.

Urgent information regarding the Lanterns for Salisbury evening street parade on Thursday 15th December 2011

We have been strongly advised that the approaching weather front will be at its strongest over Thursday evening, the actual time of the Lantern parade, with winds gusting well in excess of 30mph and a strong possibility of driving rain as well.

Bearing the safety and comfort of everyone in mind we have decided to cancel the Lanterns for Salisbury street parade for this year.

We will be in touch by phone very soon to discuss possibilities around returning lanterns that have been recently collected.

Our apologies for this unpredictable and sad cancellation but the safety and comfort of everyone involved is our greatest concern.
